BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – (April 15, 2013) –TOMI Environmental Solutions, Inc. (“TOMI”) (OTCBB:TOMZ), a global bacteria decontamination and infectious disease control company, announced today that it completed the acquisition of binary ionization technology and related patents from L-3 Applied Technologies, Inc. (“L-3”), for $3,500,000 in cash.

The technology relates to a disinfection system that applies cold plasma activation to a hydrogen peroxide-based aerosol (“BIT”). L-3 will continue to have the exclusive license to sell BIT products covered by the transferred technology to the military. BIT, also known as SteraMist, deactivates organic compounds and quickly and effectively kills viruses, bacteria, spores, mold, and fungi in the air and on surfaces. This fast-acting biological disinfection leaves no residue or noxious fumes and is environmentally friendly.

Dr. Halden Shane, TOMI’s Chief Executive Officer, stated, “We are thrilled to have completed this acquisition. Today, TOMI has obtained control of this innovative, patented technology. We have been selling this product line over the past two and one-half years and have made inroads into U.S. and International Healthcare markets along with the Professional Remediation Industry. Now that we’ve taken over the technology in full, with the exception of military sales, we have the ability and intent to build on the client base we’ve been cultivating, as well as expanding into other market segments.”

Last week, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) came out with its Vital Signs Report. In it, the CDC called on the entire healthcare community to halt the spread of deadly bacteria. The matter is very serious as data shows that more and more patients suffer infections from bacteria that are resistant to nearly all antibiotics. I think Ben Franklin said it best: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” In this case, there isn’t a pound of cure since many of these lethal infections are impossible to cure.

Patients are not the only ones in danger, healthcare workers, family members, and the general public can all be infected with, Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE), the latest family of bacteria that is increasingly resistant to last-resort antibiotics. CRE is common in other parts of the world as well. Israel recently employed a coordinated effort in its 27 hospitals and dropped CRE rates by more than 70%! Several facilities and states in the U.S. have also seen similar reductions. All of the healthcare facilities that utilize the SteraMist technology have seen a reduction in HAI’s. It is vital for our healthcare facilities to understand the importance of finding effective solutions to aid them in the implementation of the CDC’s “detect and protect” strategy and stop these infections from spreading.

Have you ever thought twice about sitting down in a seat? It’s after work and you’re tired, you have to take a long train ride home hoping that there is an empty seat for your trip. The door opens and the movie line begins to move in quickly, so you rush to get a seat.

You and your wife just landed at the airport and you take a seat on the shuttle bus, to get to your rental car for a week of fun and relaxation. You are on a plane home after a long week on the east coast, and will spend the next six hours or more in your seat. An evening out with your family to a ball game and you just sat down to enjoy your favorite sport.

These examples can go on and on, seats, seats, and more seats.

Have you ever thought twice about who sat in the seat before you or even better what is still in the seat that you can’t see? Well its about time you did because over 50 percent of all public seats are contaminated with fecal matter, and a much greater percentage with other dangerous pathogens including deadly MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus).

With the jump of the feared Hospital acquired MRSA (HA-MRSA) to Community acquired MRA (CA-MRSA) everyone is at risk. Good-morning America recently did a study ”Germ test shows public seats full of bacteria.” Click here for more information.

What is one to do? Why has the public not demand the routine decontamination and sterilization of all public seats? Well the answer may be because only a few people are familiar with TOMI Environmental Solutions’ revolutionary new technology, right out of Star Wars. TOMI utilizes SteraMist (BIT®), an aerosol that when spayed on a seat kills all pathogens on contact. The result is a six-log kill, that is 99.9999%, so demand that your seat be sterile instead of wasting time being worried about these issues. Ask the owners and employees of all these venues to have their seats decontaminated and sterilized. Demand a sterile seat to sit on and no more thoughts of who or what is sharing your seat with you. Call TOMI Environmental Solutions at 310-275-2255 for more information.

We all know where these HAI’s (Healthcare Associated Infections) are breeding, living and waiting to ruin the day of another defenseless patient or hospital personnel. We have many studies showing that traditional cleaning just doesn’t cut it today. Whether it be the increase in population, the ease of traveling across continents with these bugs hitchhiking on you or just a developed resistant to antibiotics that has enabled these Superbugs to gain a choke hold on us.

A study involving commonly touched surfaces (bed rails, telephones, call buttons, toilet seats, wheelchairs and bedside tables) in patient rooms with C. Diff found that after routine cleaning, 78% of the surfaces remained contaminated with C. Diff spores.

A separate study of 49 New England hospitals found 25% of OR surfaces were overlooked by current cleaning teams.

Another study demonstrated that MRSA (Staph) lives outside of the human body for 9 months. Hepatitis C lives at least 16 hours and up to 4 days. Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff) a current major problem in today’s healthcare setting lingers and lives 70 plus days and Acinetobacter Baumannii lives up to 20 plus days.

A recent study, published in the Public Library of Science journal PLOS ONE, addresses just Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus or MRSA infections associated with surgery.

“Our estimates of the financial burden of surgical site infections due to MRSA are unique,” Deverick Anderson of Duke University Medical Center and colleagues wrote.

“Surgical site infections due to MRSA led to charges in excess of $19 million for the group of study hospitals,” they added. “Surgical site infections due to MRSA led to: 7-fold increased risk of death, 35-fold increased risk of hospital readmission, and adding more than 3 weeks of additional hospitalization. Along with $60,000 of additional charges added to a hospital bill compared to uninfected controls.”

So what are we to do? We have tried hand wipes, adding additional cleaning personnel, the use of newer disinfection products and zero infection protocols but still pathogens are winning. Patients are dying at a rate of 271 people a day from healthcare associated infections.

TOMI Environmental Solutions has your answer! We are in the Hydrogen Peroxide Space, but not just for disinfection, we expect our product to leave the surface we clean completely Sterile! Hydrogen Peroxide is the new buzz word around the infection and disease control world and APIC. However, TOMI’s technology does NOT take hours to decontaminate and sterilize a room, and you don’t have to shut down the room and not occupy it for a shift. You don’t even have to evacuate the occupants next door because of excessive noise, or have to remove delicate equipment and computers because the solution you are using is made up of 30-35 percent hydrogen peroxide and may be corrosive. You have concerns that the sterility of a soft goods package has been violated and after all that, you may only get a 99.99 percent or 4 log kill, which is disinfection.

At TOMI we recommend routine usage and application of our solution on beds, bed rails, telephones, cabinets inside and out, call buttons, bedside tables, corners of rooms, toilet seats, handles, cafeteria seats, physical therapy equipment, hand rails, hallways, OR surfaces, and wheelchairs. Now you should have it, one employee and one technology. TOMI’s solution nets a zero infection rate, at least a zero infection rate from outside the body.

How do we accomplish this? TOMI’s solution uses less than a 7 percent hydrogen peroxide in an aerosol mist, that is applied to all those hard to reach and difficult to clean areas. The mist is delivered via a gun that you aim and shoot. That’s right, like a video game, but you always win. By the way it also kills on contact, leaves no residue, and is a six log kill that is 99.9999 percent. This is what healthcare should and must demand. Call TOMI Environmental Solutions at 310-275-2255 for more information.

It may take months for the global team of researchers to fully understand the characteristics of the bacteria that have killed at least 18 people in Europe and sickened thousands. They fear this E. coli strain is the most toxic yet to hit a human population.

Most Escherichia coli or E. coli bacteria are harmless. The strain that is sickening people in Germany and other parts of Europe known as 0104:H4, is part of a class of bacteria known as Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli, or STEC.

This class has the ability to stick to intestinal walls where it pumps out toxins causing diarrhea and vomiting. In severe cases, it causes hemolytic uremic syndrome or HUS, attacking the kidneys and causing comas, seizures, and strokes.

It is time that the world tightens its food production and processing procedures. TOMI’s green technology offers the latest in food safety. Our food decontamination mobile surface washer is utilized to spray all food products along the processing line, while the decontamination of the conveyor belts, equipment, and prep tables is done using the SteraMist (BIT®) portable unit, an activated hydrogen peroxide based aerosol. Net result Sterilization and death to Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli, or STEC, instead of death to humans!

TOMI’S deadly duo is the food industry’s answer! Two guns, two applications, no more recalls. The new standard in food service, get on board. For more information contact TOMI Environmental Solutions at 310-275-2255.

However many of these dangers are out of their control. MRSA is another danger that has invaded their firehouses, now there is a technology that was developed for the U.S. Defense Dept., to neutralize a buildings contaminated with Anthrax. This technology is NOW available to give our firefighters the peace of mind that the surfaces they clean up in, cook in, sleep and sit on are MRSA free.

As a physician with an understanding of infectious disease and considering the jump from hospital acquired MRSA (HA-MRSA) to community acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA) it makes sense for the fire departments around the globe to potentially have concerns over MRSA and other potentially deadly pathogens invading their own fire station. The close sleeping quarters, showers, and group lounges are perfect environments for MRSA to flourish in and may live up to 9 months on surfaces.

SteraMist (BIT®) was developed by a major U.S. defense contractor and is activated Hydrogen Peroxide that is aerosolized into a mist with a six-log kill upon contact of bacteria, molds, and spores. It was first used by the United States Biological Combat Assessment System Program and The Airborne Warning and Control System Program. SteraMist (BIT®) is a shoot and spray methodology applicable to masks, uniforms, equipment, showers, beds, and almost any surface leaving behind no residue while deactivating viruses.

TOMI is discounting our SteraMist (BIT®) Portable unit 10 percent as a courtesy for the heroic services they do for our communities. Please feel free to donate these units to your local firehouses.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – (October 30, 2012) – TOMI Environmental Solutions, Inc. (“TOMI”) (OTCBB:TOMZ), a global bacteria decontamination and infectious disease control company, announced that it had recently exhibited the SteraMist (BIT®) activated hydrogen peroxide technology at several industry conferences.

In May 2012, TOMI exhibited at the Remediation Industry Association’s national meeting in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to present how TOMI’s SteraMist (BIT®) air and surface treatment equipment offers the healthcare industry a low cost and effective steraliant that allows professional remediators to resolve contaminated property issues and return the property back to its owner in a useful condition. Dr. Halden Shane, TOMI’s Chief Executive Officer, stated, “TOMI has received orders and shipped products to remediators as a result of this exhibition.”

In June 2012, TOMI exhibited the SteraMist (BIT®) system at the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (“APIC”) 39th Annual Educational Conference & International Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. This year’s theme was “Infection Prevention: Improving Outcomes, Saving Lives.” A focus at APIC’s conference was how to eliminate the incidence of Healthcare Associated Infections. During their presentations, several national healthcare authorities advocated the use of Activated Hydrogen Peroxide. Dr. Shane stated, “SteraMist (BIT®)’s activated hydrogen peroxide aerosol portable technology gives a six-log kill, leaves no residue, and converts to only water and oxygen. Developed by a major U.S. Defense contractor, it has historically been used for killing anthrax spores and is currently being used by the military and civil defense in various countries. It is now available through TOMI to the healthcare industry.” Dr. Shane also stated that, “It was gratifying to see a high level of interest in SteraMist (BIT®) amongst the attendees at the conference.”

In September 2012, TOMI participated as a presenting company at the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (“ASHRM”) Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland at which the society officially launched “Getting to Zero™: Eliminating Preventable Serious Safety Events,” a multi-faceted patient safety and healthcare risk management initiative that aims at reducing the incidence of preventable serious safety events in healthcare organizations.

Dr. Shane reported that Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, upon evaluation of both the initial results from using the SteraMist (BIT®) system in its facility and the protocol and training programs developed by TOMI, has expanded its SteraMist (BIT®) program and ordered additional equipment from TOMI. That brings the use of TOMI’s SteraMist (BIT®) bacteria reducing mist to four U.S. hospitals including TOMI’s newest addition, Northwest Hospital, located in Randallstown, Maryland.

Dr. Shane also reported that the SteraMist (BIT®) system is currently being tested in the facilities of two other major U.S. hospitals and is under active consideration at several other major U.S. hospitals.

In connection with TOMI’s recent hospital-based activities, Dr. Shane announced that, at the invitation from a representative of the Social Security Program of Panama, TOMI was approved to perform an official pilot study, which TOMI completed, to remediate accumulated biological/bacterial colonies. The study determined that TOMI had achieved the expected amount of biological/bacterial colony reductions with its products. Panama’s Social Security Program subsequently engaged TOMI to expand this program at its hospitals.
