TOMI's proprietary Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation lamps work by producing UVC (254 nm) and UVV (187 nm) radiation. UVC is short-wave radiation; it attacks the DNA of the cell and deactivates mold, bacteria and viruses. UVV is primarily used for oxidation; this is the portion of the lamp that will destroy chemicals and odors such as cigarette smoke, volatile organic compounds (VOC's), diesel fumes and formaldehyde.
